All of the fonts are zipped, so you must have an unzip program like Winzip for the PC, or ZIPIT if you use a MAC.

(NOTE. These fonts were made for the Windows Operating System(s), if you own a MAC you must convert them by using TT-Converter. This is a relatively small program that you may use on any True Type (.ttf file).

PC Font Download & Installation

Download the zipped font by left-clicking over the font image of your choice. A "save file" menu will pop-up. Select the folder into which you want to save the zipped file and click OK. With WinZip (or other unzipping utility), unzip the font into the folder of your choice. You must remember where you put it. (It's a good idea to create a download folder just for this purpose)

1.Go to the Windows Desktop and double-click the "My Computer" icon. The "My computer" window will open. If you have eliminated your icons, go to the Start button on your tool bar.   Click it, go up to Settings and go to Control Panel. Click Control Panel. It will bring up a window that will allow you to follow the instructions below.

2.Double-click on the "Control Panel" icon. The "Control Panel will open.

3. Double-click on the "fonts" icon

The "fonts window" will open and show you the current fonts you have installed on your machine.

4. Click on the "Files" panel and highlight "Install new Fonts"

The "Add new fonts window will appear.

5. Use the "Folders" box to find the folder you unzipped your fonts to. Use "select all" then ok and your fonts will be loaded for you. If the fonts are already on your PC, you will recieve a warning stating that you cannot install the font unless you un-install it first. Do not worry about this warning. Just click ok to continue. After the fonts are loaded you may close the window and view The Lurch Files as they were intended to be seen.

NOTE:

If you try to install fonts which are already installed, you will be presented with a warning window telling you that you cannot install the font unless you first un-install it. This is a harmless warning which allows you to continue with the other fonts by simply pressing the button.

Un-zip PC zipped files to a Mac.

On a Mac, you will need ZipIt to decompress the PC winzip files.

1. Put the downloaded "font winzip" file in a folder.
2. Double-click ZipIt
3. Open zip archive...OR...Simply drag the icon of the font file to the ZipIt icon, then...
4. Select All from the Edit menu
5. Extract (command e) from Zip menu
6. Save All
    

Convert PC fonts for use on a Mac using TT-Convert.

TT-Convert converts between formats, not between font types. It will convert back and forth from PC to Mac TrueType and from PC to Mac PostScript. It can not convert between TrueType and PostScript formats.

1. Open TT-Converter and from within the program, open the .ttf file you wish to convert...OR...Simply drag your .ttf files onto the TT-Converter icon.
2. A dialog box will now appear.
3. If the highlighted box ("Save Converted Font As"), doesn't already have a name in it, type the Font Name you know you downloaded it as, then
4. Click "Customize Font," which brings up another dialog box.
5. Ignore most of it. Enter the name (from Step 3) into the "Font Name" box.
6. Click "OK" in that dialog box.
7. Click "Save" in the next dialog box (Keep ignoring everything else.).

You should now have successfully converted a PC font for use on a Mac.

Install your newly converted fonts onto your Mac.

1. Drag the font(s) (inside the folder labeled with the "A" or out by itself) to the "Font Folder" inside your System Folder...OR... Simply drag the font(s) to your System Folder, and click "OK" in the dialog box that automatically comes up. NOTE:Do not create or put fonts into new, non-font folders inside the Font Folder.
2. Only after you've loaded the font can you start the program you want to use it in.
3. Sometimes, newly added fonts do not show up in your font lists until you restart your Mac.
